Weather

Situated on the east coast of Lundy Island, Iona II is subject to a range of environmental conditions.

Prevailing winds in the Lundy area are from the south west and significant sea states can occur following northerly, easterly or southerly winds. As the wreck site is off the east coast of the island, it is generally sheltered from the prevailing winds.

The location of the wreck site, some twenty kilometres off the North Devon coast, makes for a long transit to site if based on the mainland. Bad weather can result in a dive support vessel being unable to make the crossing to the site, even though conditions may be favourable for diving at the site location itself.
