Public access and special events on selected dates

Crownhill Fort is open to the public on the following specific dates.
This site is in continual use by a community of small businesses, holiday residents and tour groups. Crownhill Fort is private and not open to visitors at other times.

Tuesday 22nd October - Crownhill Fort After Dark - 4pm to 8pm
The last event of our 2024 season, this is one not to miss! See historic Crownhill Fort illuminated by a wide variety of historic lanterns, enjoy food and drink from local vendors and learn more about the Fort by joining walking tours and guest speakers. 
 
The final running order is as follows:
  • Car parking available from 1540, the Fort opens at 1600
  • 1630 Field Gun firing on the Parade Ground
  • 1700 The East Caponier is open to view for one hour
  • 1800 The ramparts close to visitors and the Fort is illuminated by historic lighting
  • 1830 A candlelit talk on Victorian military life
  • 1900 Firing of a 32 pounder cannon on the Parade Ground

We have two fire pits to keep you warm and toasty
 
Timed activities are subject to the usual caveats about staff, weather and so on
 
There are two options for buying tickets:
  • Buy in advance using the ticket link on this page. You can pay by credit/debit card or Paypal and the webshop will remain open until all tickets are sold.
  • Buy your tickets/parking on the gate. We do not have a card machine at Crownhill so please bring cash. 
Admission £5 per adult, £3 per child (5-15 inclusive), parking £2.50 per vehicle. 

Crownhill Fort

Crownhill Fort is home to a succession of holiday guests and a community of small businesses. For this reason public access is not permitted on dates other than those listed above.

Some areas of the Fort including the Holiday Accommodation, underground spaces and premises occupied by our business residents are not available to view unless advertised.

Note that we only allow assistance dogs inside the Fort; please leave your pets at home.
