How to apply for a Landmark Futures stay

Who can apply?

All disciplines are welcome – arts, sciences, social studies, crafts. Breaks are intended chiefly for students or researchers rather than staff: undergrads, postgrads and postdocs, as well as from students on applied courses (NVQ and craft related). The degree of staff supervision required will depend on the group.

As well as the obvious historical and creative writing possibilities, depending on the location participants might be geologists, marine biologists, astrophysicists, environmental behaviourists, botanists, future journalists/policy makers, geophysicists, virtual reconstructionists...

Please note we can only accept applications from departmental staff and not from students applying as individuals.

Choosing your stay

Under the Futures scheme, applicants are invited to nominate their stay according to field of study and appropriate timing. Any single Landmark building* is eligible for a single booking period (a 3 night weekend stay or a 4 night midweek stay), provided they are available. Availability can be checked here.

*Please note that the following buildings are not eligible for the Futures scheme: Casa de Mar, Collegehill House, Gargunnock House, The Georgian House, Hole Cottage, Oxenford Gatehouse, the Mansardi at Villa dei Vescovi, Rosslyn Castle, Wolveton Gatehouse and buildings at Le Moulin de la Tuilerie site).

Early application is advised: Futures stays have not been blocked out in advance but will be provisionally blocked on receipt of the application. Please check the bedroom arrangements carefully – the number of bedrooms in a building is of course lower than the number of bed spaces.
