The Weathers of History

An illustrated talk and book signing with Alexandra Harris

Talk and book signing

Saturday 1 July 2017 6pm-7.30pm
Tickets are £10

The story of English culture over a thousand years can be told as the story of changing ideas about the weather. Writers and artists across the centuries, looking up at the same skies and walking in the same brisk air, have felt very different things. In a sweeping panorama, Weatherland allows us to witness cultural climates on the move.

Alexandra Harris, cultural historian and Professor of English at Liverpool University, will speak on her acclaimed book Weatherland: Writers and Artists under English Skies, which was shortlisted for the Ondaatje Prize and adapted for Radio 4. She has watched the weather from a number of Landmarks.
