Calverley Heritage Trail
Inspired by the idea that Calverley is ‘a village that celebrates its rich historic past but also embraces the future’, the Calverley Heritage Trail has been designed to honour tradition while presenting a fresh, creative perspective on the area’s rich history.
Curated and produced by Maggie Senior of We Are Dabble, the trail is available in two formats, a map and a video, which can be enjoyed individually, or together, in person at Calverley, or remotely from home.
Watch the video
This point-of-view (POV) video offers an immersive experience of the walk, capturing all seven key historic landmarks along the route. Featuring a voiceover, music, and subtitles, the video is designed to be informative, engaging, and accessible to a broad audience. Why not watch the video before you visit Calverley for a taster of what to expect, or if you can’t visit Calverley, it will show you what this wonderful village has to offer for those interested in local history.

Maggie has also collaborated with designer and illustrator Kezia Hulse to create a beautifully hand-illustrated map, available in both physical and digital formats. Built using locally sourced recycled paper, the intricate handmade illustrations were photographed and digitally enhanced to retain their natural, tactile texture. The result is a visually rich, hands-on guide that not only enhances the walking experience but also serves as a keepsake. The map also features light-hearted riddles for families to solve along the way, adding a playful layer to the journey.
The map can be downloaded and printed on A3 paper, or enjoyed directly on your mobile device or computer. If you are staying at Calverley Old Hall, copies of the printed trail are available for holiday guests to enjoy during their stay.
Throughout the project, close collaboration with the Calverley Local History Group ensured the accuracy and depth of historical content. Their insight and research shaped the storytelling across both the video and the map, grounding the project in authentic local heritage.
The Calverley Heritage Trail offers a meaningful new way for residents and visitors alike to engage with the village’s history — one that is accessible, visually engaging, and deeply rooted in community collaboration.
