Dr Anna Keay OBE to step down as Landmark Trust Director
Dr Anna Keay OBE has given notice that she will step down as Director of the Landmark Trust in October after fourteen years leading the charity.
This follows confirmation by The Royal Household that Anna has been appointed to write the official authorised biography of The late Queen Elizabeth II, commissioned by His Majesty The King.
Anna said: “It is a profound honour to have been asked to write the Official Biography of Queen Elizabeth II. My only sadness is that in order to do so I will be stepping down as Director of the Landmark Trust later this year. I firmly believe that the work of the Landmark Trust, saving and caring for buildings under threat in Britain and beyond, is of the utmost importance, and I look forward to giving it my full attention until I hand over to my lucky successor in the Autumn.”
An outstanding contribution
Anna has made an outstanding contribution to the charity’s work since her appointment in 2012. Under her leadership Landmark has rescued numerous buildings at risk, won scores of high-profile awards and been voted Which? Magazine’s best holiday accommodation provider. Most recently, Anna has spearheaded a mission to save Mavisbank House - one of the most important buildings at risk in Britain.
Alan Leibowitz, Landmark’s Chair, will now embark on a process to appoint Landmark’s successor and added: “Anna Keay has been a transformational Director of Landmark. She has brought great distinction to the role through her exceptional leadership, her abilities as a communicator, her deep knowledge of history and historic buildings, and her insistence on excellence in all that Landmark undertakes. Anna’s great talents as a writer make her an inspired choice as the official biographer of Queen Elizabeth II. She will leave Landmark in superb shape, and we wish her every success.”
