Villa dei Vescovi

Two new Landmarks now open

Villa dei Vescovi, Italy

We are thrilled to announce two Italian Landmarks which opened in September 2013.

The Landmarks are second-storey apartments in Villa dei Vescovi, an important Renaissance villa that was the country retreat of the Bishops of Padua from 1535 until the 20th century. They make wonderful places to stay; Anna Keay, Director of the Landmark Trust said, “It is a truly special experience to live in the Villa dei Vescovi and to be able to sit surrounded by Renaissance frescoes on the wide west loggia, watching the sun set on a landscape little changed since the 16th century.”

The Villa dei Vescovi nestles among the vineyards and orchards of the Euganean Hills 20km southwest of Padua. Guests will have privileged access to the main villa and its grounds. Each apartment sleeps four people and can be rented for short breaks or by the week with prices starting from £434 for a 3 night weekend.

The villa dates back to 1535, and is cared for by Fondo Ambiente Italiano, the Italian version of the National Trust, whom we help considerably in the UK. FAI restored the villa and now opens it to day visitors. They also created two holiday apartments on the attic floor; Mansarda del Vigneto (with views over the vineyard) and Mansarda del Frutteto (overlooking the orchards). In a joint venture arrangement The Landmark Trust is responsible for the letting of this building and has the privilege of offering these two apartments as part of our portfolio. The Landmark Trust is using its knowledge and expertise in what we hope will be a long and fruitful partnership with FAI.
