As part of the Calverley Old Hall restoration project, the Landmark Trust are hosting a series of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) workshops at Calverley Old Hall.
Some of these workshops are aimed to help homeowners of historic buildings learn more about how to care for their property, whilst others are focused on improving the skillset of professional tradespeople who wish to learn more about traditional working practices. The courses are recognised by the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, and can count towards your CPD requirements for their membership.
We will be hosting a mixture of single day CPD workshops based on relevant subjects related to historic building conservation, and a number of two-day ‘Care and Repair of an Old Building’ sessions. These two-day sessions will consist of a mixture of presentations and practical work/demonstrations related to varied topics of building conservation and key things to look out for when caring for an old building. The first day will act as more of a general overview of caring for a historic building, covering multiple useful subjects, whilst the second day will be based on a more specialised topic, for example different methods of working with lime. Each two-day session will run twice, once more tailored towards enhancing the knowledge of owners of historic buildings, and once for more professional tradespeople.
The single day training opportunities will be focused around a single subject such as installing the correct building services for a historic site and will be aimed at contractors, surveyors, building or conservation professionals who would like to learn more about a subject which perhaps they do not currently specialise in.
