Calverley Old Hall activities and events

Thanks to initial funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project at Calverley Old Hall will become a catalyst for engagement work with the local and wider community.

Our overarching theme is Crafting Cultures - using traditional craft skills, including building crafts, textiles and food, to connect communities, cultures and heritage. Through these activities we will:

  • Explore and discover the history and context of Calverley Old Hall through research, learning and creative activities that engage with a wide range of people and explore cross-cultural links and influences.
  • Return this ancient manor to prominence and popularity, setting Calverley Old Hall within a regional and national context.
  • Provide accredited training and meaningful work experience opportunities that encourages long term involvement in our heritage and improves life chances for people.
  • Present a programme of events and open days that inspire a range of audiences, and encourage its future use as a venue for small creative events, meetings, and workshops.

Over the coming months, we will hold activities and training sessions both on-site and onlineas this fascinating project develops. All the events will be advertised via our email newsletter, as well as social media platforms, posters and other local networks. Look out for special days aimed at homeowners tradespeople, teenagers as well as open days with activities suitable for all ages. To sign up to our newsletter, please email us.

Given the evolving situation with Coronavirus we are closely monitoring official UK government advice with regard to all our planned events and activities. All planned events are subject to changes in order to ensure the safety of participants and local residents.

Calverley Old Hall needs you!

We are looking for volunteers and participants to help us with research, creative content and practical work on site. All ages are welcome and training will be given for each task. We particularly welcome interest from young people who are interested in computer (game) design. We recently laser scanned the whole site and in the future, we would like to digitally recreate Calverley Old Hall through time. We are inviting young people to be our researchers and digital designersPlease email us to express your interest.
