The Landmark Trust has owned Calverley Old Hall since 1981, when it was for sale in three separate lots. It had long been divided into cottages, but under a single landlord, the Thornhill Estate. Then funded by Sir John Smith’s Manifold Trust, Landmark bought this important medieval house so that it could remain in single ownership.

Landmark now have an ambitious and exciting architectural scheme for Calverley Old Hall that will bring the whole site back into use, creating a spectacular new Landmark for 10 people, together with space for the local community. The design - by Cowper Griffiths Architects - will restore the main spaces of the house to their historic uses, fusing the conservation of medieval fabric with contemporary design.

Join us at these public open days to learn how the existing structures and surviving fabric of the building will be gently and sensitively repaired, and where the original fabric has disappeared - as with the lost cross passage and stairs – the new interventions will be clearly identifiable as 21st-century repairs.

Access to the building is free but must be pre-booked via EventBrite. You are welcome to explore the grounds before & after your time slot. Outdoor activities will be held throughout the weekend - these do not need to be pre-booked. Check back on this page a little closer to the time for more detail on the activities.

Free Admission and leaflets on the building's history. Click here for location.
