Ingestre Pavilion

July 2015

Our Buildings Department cares for some magnificent structures, one of these being Ingestre Pavilion, an 18th century edifice that appears in a drawing-plan by Capability Brown. Last week, the plasterwork of the Landmark’s portico (the grand ceiling above the entrance) received important maintenance work.

More than a bit of casual dusting, two decorators spent a day and a half up lofty scaffolding to meticulously cleanse every nook and cranny of the “royal icing” ceiling. Equipped with an array of very soft brushes in all different sizes, the pair gently removed dirt and cobwebs to reveal the white distemper beneath. If you ever visit the pavilion, be sure to look up!
