To celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2015, Antony Gormley installed sculptures at several Landmark sites across the UK. In May, we're bidding farewell to the 'LAND' installations. We're holding farewell events where you can come along and see the sculptures for the last time - as well as looking around a Landmark.
Lengthman's Cottage - open 14th and 15th May
Lengthman's Cottage is a barrel-roofed cottage, dating from c1812, a rare survivor of its type on the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal. It was built for the 'lengthsman' who maintained the lock as the next stretch of canal.' We're holding farewell events on Sunday afternoon from 2.30pm, with poet Jo Bell reading from her collection of canal poems and Kerry Andrew performing live music. Please follow parking directions on arrival.
Saddell House - open 14th and 15th May
Saddell House commands and overlooks the centre of Saddell Bay with wide views of the Isle of Arran on one side and up the glen on the other. There will be a farewell event taking place on Sunday afternoon with music by piper Niall Gemmill and food by Ifferdale Lamb.
Martello Tower - open 14th and 15th May
Martello Tower is the largest and most northerly of the chain of towers built by the Board of Ordnance against invasion by Napoleon. Built in the shape of a quatrefoil for four heavy guns, nearly a million bricks were used in its construction.
Lundy Island - sculpture coming down on 7th June
The sculpture on Lundy island is due to be taken down on the 7th June. Make sure you pay a visit before it's gone.
