Warden-led activites

Participating in warden-led activities can enhance your groups visit to Lundy and can be tailored to your needs.

Rockpool rambles

Rockpool rambles are an excellent opportunity to immerse your group with the natural environment. The rockpool communities in the Devil's Kitchen are some of the most diverse within the Southwest and their exploration encourages children to consider the adaptations needed to survive in such harsh environments.

Exploration is supported through the use of simple keys and can be developed into further activities such as rockpool mapping.

Please note that Rockpools can only be accessed on suitable tides and are also subject to weather conditions as the shore particularly slippy during wet weather.

Guided walk

Guided walks are the most popular activity undertaken by visiting school groups. Starting at the Jetty on arrival, students are guided around the island to the most notable features of Millcombe garden, Bensons' Cave, Marisco Castle and Old Light. Seasonal variations include visits to Jenny's Cove to view the famous Lundy Puffins.

Walks can be tailored to your teaching needs and can include geology, geography, history and wildlife.

Timings are dependent upon sailing times and can vary from a few hours on an Ilfracombe sailing to up to 6 hours on a Bideford sailing.
