Doug Gurr is director of the Natural History Museum. Previously he was global vice-president of Amazon UK, after a role as the president of Amazon China. Prior to joining Amazon Doug was on the board of Asda. He started his career as an academic teaching maths and computing. After three years in the Civil Service he joined the consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where he became a partner and led the UK Retail Practice. He left to found Blueheath, the internet enabled stockless wholesaler, which was subsequently sold to Booker PLC. Doug is currently Chairman of the British Heart Foundation, a Trustee of the National Gallery and non-executive Director of the Land Registry.
