Bigger Text
If you need to change the size of the text or the colours on the
page, most Internet browsers will allow users to change the background
and text colours (as well as the colour of hyperlinks) and to change
font size. However when changing your browser settings, keep this
information in mind:
- Bigger text means less information on the screen at one time
and more scrolling.
- Do not select the same colour for background and text, as this
will make your pages invisible.
- You may need to click on the "Refresh" or "Reload" button for
changes to take effect.

Improving Colour Contrast
- From the menu bar at the top, pull down the Tools menu.
- Select Internet Options.
- Click on the Accessibility button that is near the bottom.
- Check the box next to "Ignore colours specified on web pages".
- Click on OK once to return to the options menu.
- Click on the Colours button that is near the bottom.
- Deselect "Use Windows colours" (click to get rid of the check
mark in the box).
- Click on the colour that you wish to modify (text, background
or links).
- Click on the desired colour from the colour palette.
- Click on OK once to return to the Colours menu.
- Click on OK again when you've completed your modifications/
- With the second click, the colours on your screen should change.
- Experiment with a variety of combinations until you find the
one that is most comfortable for reading on-screen.
Increasing Font Size
- From the menu bar at the top, pull down the View menu.
- Select Text Size.
- There are 5 choices, ranging from smallest to largest.
- Select a new font style.
- Again, some experimentation is necessary.

side of the dialog box.
- Deselect "system colours"(click to get rid of the check mark
in the box).
- Click on the colour that you wish to modify (text, background
or links).
- Click on the desired colour from the colour palette.
- Click OK.
Increasing Font Size
- From the menu bar at the top, pull down the Edit menu.
- Select Preferences.
- Click on Fonts, which is listed under Appearances.
- Choose a font size from the options listed.
- Click on the desired font size from the pull-down menu.
- Click OK.
- You have many options when it comes to font size. Try a couple
of different sizes in order to determine the best for you.

Improving Colour Contrast
If you are using Netscape 4, you will not be able to change the text
colour, but you can still vary the contrast by changing the background
colour.
- From the menu bar at the top, pull down the Edit menu.
- Select Preferences.
- Double-click on Colours, which is listed under APPEARANCES.
(If Colours does not appear, double-click on Appearances, which
should bring up Colours).
- Deselect "Use Windows colours" (click to get rid of the check
mark in the box).
- Click on the colour that you wish to modify (text, background
or links).
- Click on the desired colour from the colour palette.
- Click OK once to return to the Colours menu.
- Click OK again when you've completed your modifications.
- With the second click, the colours on your screen should change.
- Experiment with a variety of combinations until you find the
one that is most comfortable for reading on-screen.
- Once you've tested and selected the combination that gives you
the easiest legibility, you can select (click on) "Always use
my colours, overriding document."
Increasing Font Size
- To increase the font size hold down control and press the ]
(close square bracket) key.
- To decrease the font size hold down control and press the [(
open square bracket) key.
