Silverton Park Stables Appeal

14 December 2006

Silverton Park Stables, DevonWe have launched an appeal to raise £224,000 for the repair of Silverton Park Stables, a monumental and strangely romantic stable block built in the late 1830s.  Nearly three quarters of the project cost has been met already by a generous private donation and money from a legacy.  This enabled us to start work on site but we urgently need to raise the shortfall of funds to complete the restoration.

6 September 2006

Clavell Tower, Dorset On 5 September, work began to dismantle Clavell Tower and move it back 25 metres from the eroding cliff edge.

The tower will be carefully dismantled and each stone numbered and recorded to enable it to be rebuilt to its original design. In addition to moving the building, services such as electricity and water will need to be brought in, new stone will need to be carved to replace the missing sections of the parapet and facilities such as a kitchen and bathroom inserted. The project is costing £898,000 which includes training for students from a local college in traditional stone masonry skills, an education programme run with four local primary schools and the production of information boards.

Appeal launched to save Queen Anne's Summerhouse

6 December 2004

Queen Anne's Summerhouse, Bedfordshire Queen Anne's Summerhouse, an eighteenth-century folly on the Shuttleworth estate in Bedfordshire, is in an advanced state of decay. There are gaping holes in the roof, vegetation has colonised the interior and the whole structure is crumbling away. The Landmark Trust hopes to raise a total of £500,000 to restore this building but initially needs £10,000 to carry out some urgent emergency work. This would involve erecting a temporary roof over the building to protect it from further deterioration while the remaining money is raised.
