The Carpenter's Shop

Coombe hamlet consists of a watermill, the mill house and several cottages built among orchards around a ford on a shallow stream. The Carpenters Shop was built around 1830 by a family of carpenters called Tape. The living room has a fine slate floor and a large an open fire, at one time the forge.

Chapel Cottage

Coombe hamlet consists of a watermill, the mill house and several cottages built among orchards around a ford on a shallow stream. The Chapel Cottage takes its name from the former Bible Christian meeting room which is now its living room. A little above the rest of Coombe, Chapel Cottage looks out over the valley across the top of one of the orchards.

Ford Cottage is an extremely old cottage of cob and thatch beside the stream. Teas used to be served here and you can enjoy your own afternoon tea in the back garden whilst watching the stream chuckle by.

Coombe hamlet consists of a watermill, the mill house and several cottages built among orchards around a ford on a shallow stream. Hawkers Cottages are a pair of stone, cob and thatched cottages, named after the famous Vicar of Morwenstow. No. 1 is the slightly smaller cottage and has a charming window in the form of a cross. The small gardens in front are sheltered and pretty.

Hawkers Cottages are a pair of stone, cob and thatched cottages, named after the famous Vicar of Morwenstow. No. 2 is the slightly larger cottage, with a handome slate-floored living room and its own small and sheltered front garden.

Mill House dates from 1700 and is mainly built of stone, with patches of cob and a thatched and slated roof. No. 1 is the slightly larger of the two and has a wide fireplace in the sitting room.

Mill House dates from 1700 and is mainly built of stone, with patches of cob and a thatched and slated roof. The stream runs past a cobbled terrace at the back which you can sit and watch pass by or maybe paddle in.
